Key Innings
st | BYU grabbed the early lead via a pair of homers in the first. After a leadoff walk, Hailey Morrow hit a two-run homer to claim the advantage. Another solo homer later in the frame extended the edge to three after the first.
rd | BYU added another with a solo homer off the bat of Bre Townsend to push the lead to four, but Houston answered in the home half of the inning. With the bases loaded, freshman Isabel Cintron drew a bases-loaded walk to force freshman Ariel Redmond home. Another walk later in the frame, this time from sophomore Makenna Mitchell plated sophomore Kayley Prudhomme. Wells evened the score in the next at-bat, slipping a line drive inside the right field line to score two, tying the game at 4-4.
th | BYU reclaimed the lead in the top of the fourth. A single up the middle put a runner on and a two-run homer put the Provo, Utah, based team in front 6-4.
th | BYU added another pair of runs in the top of the sixth, capitalizing on defensive miscues to extend the inning and pushing two unearned runs across, securing a 8-4 win.
