Houston held to three hits, fall in five innings to Wildcats

TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of Houston Softball team dropped game two of its final Big 12 regular season weekend series, 8-0, against #20 Arizona at Hillenbrand Stadium on Saturday.

The Cougars (20-30, 3-20 Big 12) tallied three hits on the day courtesy of sophomores Ariel Redmond, Madox Mitchael and junior Makenna Mitchell. The Wildcats (33-13, 14-6 Big 12) took an early lead with a pair of runs in the first, tacking on three in the third and fourth frames to take game two in five innings.

Sophomore Ariel Redmond extended her hit streak to five games with a single to left field in the fourth inning.
Mitchell tallied her 90^th hit as a Houston Cougar, totaling 93 in her career as she nears the century hit milestone.
Mitchael made her 50^th appearance for the Cougars, tallying a single in the fifth inning.
Freshman Leilani Garcia collected her fifth double play of the season.
