Pitchers, Arbolida Dominate Texas

Arbolida hits two of Houston’s four home runs; Woodward, Citelli strikeout 16
Houston's two arms of senior Owen Woodward and junior Cade Citelli limited the Longhorns (20-15, 7-6 Big 12) to just two hits and one lone run while striking out 16. Cougar pitchers have held three different teams to two hits in a game this season (March 19 vs Rice and March 30 at TCU).
Woodward threw 4.1 perfect innings, not allowing a base runner until giving up a solo home run. Woodward struck out his 10th batter the very next at bat but had to leave the game after 4.2 innings of one hit, one run work due to injury.
Woodward had a stretch where he retired six Longhorns in a row all via the strikeout.
Slated to start Saturday, Citelli emerged from the bullpen and proceeded to strike out the next Longhorn batter for the 11th strikeout of the game. The right-hander struck out five more Texas batters over his 4.1 innings of relief work.
The Cougars (17-16, 5-11 Big 12) started the scoring in the second after a Texas wild pitch. Two innings later Houston began a parade of hitting in which the Cougars scored two runs in each of the fourth, fifth and sixth innings, hitting home runs in each inning.
Right fielder Cary Arbidola unleashed a bomb to center field for his first home run of the game in the fourth inning to give Houston a 3-0 lead.
In the bottom of the fifth, Houston put up two more runs after a solo shot from catcher Jonathon French and an RBI single from third baseman Anthony Tulimero.
Arbolida hit his second two-run home run in the sixth inning to give Houston a 7-1 lead.
Tulimero drove in two more when he hit his second home run in as many games, a two-run blast to left field to put the Cougars up 9-1.
Houston has recorded 10+ hits in six straight games and five or more runs in the last five games.
