Known for its fan-friendly atmosphere and spacious accommodations, Don Sanders Field at Darryl & Lori Schroeder Park is the proud home of the University of Houston Baseball team. Reconstructed on February 22, 1995 and recently renovated with the installation of FieldTurf, the facility has become one of the nation's top college baseball stadiums. The Cougars enjoy a beautiful scaled-down version of a Major League park, attracting fans from across the state that want to share in the experience of a great college baseball environment. |

VIDEO BOARD
Houston Baseball showcases the second largest video display in all of college baseball by Daktronics when it installed the Sanders-Gutierrez Scoreboard at Don Sanders Field at Darryl & Lori Schroeder Park in 2015.
According to Daktronics, the new outfield video display is the second largest at an on-campus baseball stadium in the country behind Arkansas new board. It measures roughly 27.5 feet high by more than 55 feet wide to provide more than 1,500 square feet of space for live video, instant replays, statistics and scoring information, graphics and animations, and sponsor messages. The display features a 15HD pixel layout for crisp, clear imagery with wide-angle viewing for a great view from every seat at the ballpark.
With the new dimensions set, the new display measures twice as tall and more than three times as wide as the former display board in right-center field. Baseball fans in the city of Houston see a similar display board at MLB's Minute Maid Park -- as both the Cougars and Astros house the same manufactured product from Daktronics.
CLUBHOUSE
Don Sanders Field at Darryl and Lori Schroeder Park also houses the Cougars' clubhouse, which includes large, professional-style locker rooms and offices for the coaches. A training area for on-site sports therapy accompanies rooms for equipment, storage, video breakdown, and laundry are available for players, coaches, and team personnel. Recent renovations in 2011 took place inside the Cougar clubhouse with newly installed wooden lockers, highlighting former players and donors to the program. Current players enjoy the luxury of flat screen televisions, a dining and lounge area for off-the-field comfort. Visiting teams and umpires can enjoy the trip to Houston as both treated to separate quality locker room areas that house showers and dressing areas inside the visiting team dugout.

PRESS BOX
Located on the upper deck behind home plate is one of the best college press boxes in the country. The press box features booths for radio and television, a 28-seat working press area for writers and ample room to operate the public address and scoreboard. Accommodating the media is an important criteria for Houston to host future NCAA Regional events.
RECENT RENOVATIONS
Don Sanders Field at Darryl & Lori Schroeder Park has undergone several renovations, enhancing the overall look and playing surface for players and fans. December 2013 marked the biggest renovation to date as the ballpark underwent a complete overhaul with the installation of the baseball specific FieldTurf DoublePlay playing surface.
In time for the 2012 season, the outfield wall was redone, enhancing the look of the companies that sponsor Cougar Baseball with new and updated ads across the padded wall. A new railing in front of each dugout was installed, while new green safe padding was added to provide safety for players during game action. The bullpen was brought to life with a new UH windscreen facing the stadium seating. In 2010, the netting behind home plate was replaced; the red roof and dugouts were freshly painted with Houston Cougars across the tops, while the "Bring Back the Red" chairback campaign, allowed all the reserved-seating chairs to be replaced.
POST-SEASON PLAY
Don Sanders Field at Darryl & Lori Schroeder Park (formally Cougar Field) has hosted four (2017, 2015, 2000, 1999) NCAA Regionals, one Super Regional (2000) and two C-USA Championships (2010, 2004) in its 23 years of existence. The all-time best crowd of 4,519 came against Rice in the NCAA Regionals back in 2000. The year 2000 still remains one of the best years for attendance, as seven of the Top 10 all-time record attendance numbers came during that year alone. 2017 marked an attendance record through 32 home contests, bringing in a total of 58,840 fans for a game average of 1,838 - both season-highs in program history.
