GAME SUMMARY
Arizona State opened the game with back-to-back homers, taking a 2-0 lead after two batters. The Sun Devils added another run in the top of the third before Houston took control in the bottom of the inning.Â
Â
After freshman Blake Fields drew a walk to open the home half of the third, senior Tyler Cox laced a single to right-center to drive in the freshman. Junior Tre Broussard then used an infield single to score Cox, bringing Houston within one and setting the table for Cade Climie, who doubled home the tying run with a double to even the score after three.
Â
Following three scoreless innings, Fields broke the stalemate with a leadoff homer in the bottom of the seventh. Houston went on to score another as junior Riley Jackson was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to give the Cougars a two-run lead. Boushele continued to dominate in the top of the ninth, sitting the Sun Devils down in order to secure the win for Houston.
