Brown tosses second-career complete game shutout; Houston ride five-run sixth inning to run rule Louisiana
LAKE CHARLES, La. – The University of Houston Softball team capped of the final day of the Cajun AC Louisiana Clash with a 10-0 shutout victory over Louisiana at Joe Miller Field at Cowgirl Diamond on Sunday.
The Cougars (11-3) secure their third shutout victory of the season and first by double-digits, holding the Ragin' Cajuns (10-6) to three hits on the day led by sophomore right-handed pitcher Nevaeh Brown's second-career complete game shutout with three strikeouts.

1st | Following a leadoff ground out to second base, Hartley came to bat in tremendous form as she drilled a deep shot to right center for her third homer of the weekend and ninth of the season to put Houston on the board.
2nd | With two outs following consecutive groundouts, freshman Leilani Garcia and junior Bethany Aguilar made their way to first and second after back-to-back walks. Facing a full count, Redmond delivered a double to left center, scoring two to add to the Cougars' lead at 3-0. Mitchell followed up with an RBI single of her own, scoring Redmond to make it 4-0 Houston.
6th | With Redmond, junior Jordee Wilkins and freshman RyLee Gardner loading the bases, senior Mandy Esman came through with a two-RBI double to right center, scoring Redmond and Wilkins to lead 7-0. Down 0-2 in the count, sophomore Madox Mitchael produced a triple down the right field line, scoring both Esman and Gardner to bring Houston up to a 9-0 advantage. Sophomore Isabel Cintron supplied the final score of the day, bringing Mitchael home on a sac fly to center field and give Houston a 10-0 lead.

The Cougars prepare for their second-consecutive week on the road where they face No. 13 Texas A&M at 6 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 26 in College Station. Houston will then open play for three days at the Longhorn Invitational starting with a doubleheader against St. Bonaventure (3:30 p.m.) and No. 3 Texas (6 p.m.) on Friday, Feb. 27 in Austin.
