Five Cougars drive home runs while every starter reached base at least once

ORLANDO, Fla. – The University of Houston Softball team flexed its offense, scoring double-digit runs for the eighth time this season as the Cougars downed UCF, 10-4, on Saturday afternoon at UCF Softball Complex.

Freshman Rylee Michalak (6-4) picked up the victory in her first career complete game for Houston (22-20, 4-14 Big 12) while Macy Miles (1-1) took the loss in the circle for UCF (28-21-1, 8-12 Big 12).

Notables

Houston won by a score of 10-4 for the first time in program history. It's the team's seventh "scorigami" this season and the 189^thunique score in team history.
Sophomore Jordee Wilkins hit her fifth triple of the season and her career, tying her for the second most in a season in program history. It also moves her into a tie for 10^th on Houston's all-time list.
With two in the game, freshman Brooke Wells brought her season RBI total to 46.
The Cougars were hit by a program-record five pitches in the win.
Wells posted her 13^th multi-RBI game of the season.
Junior Mandy Esman recorded her 19^th career multi-hit game.
Five Cougars (Esman, Wilkins, sophomore Makenna Mitchell, freshman Maddie Hartley and sophomore Bethany Aguilar) posted multi-hit games while four (Wilkins, Wells, Esman, Hartley) earned multi-RBI games.
Wilkins stole her eighth base of the season.
Houston has hit nine triples on the year, the most since hitting a program-record 15 in 2019.
The Cougars are 15-4 when scoring first this season and are 8-0 when scoring 10 runs.

Key Innings
1^st | Houston started the scoring in the top of the first. With two outs, a walk and back-to-back singles set the stage for Hartley, who laced a single to left to put the Cougars up 2-0.

UCF answered in the bottom of the frame. Three consecutive singles allowed Stormy Kotzelnic to score, cutting the Knights' deficit to one.

2^nd | Wilkins broke the game open for Houston in the second. After two singles and a hit-by-pitch allowed Aguilar, freshman Madox Mitchael and freshman Ariel Redmond to load the bases, Wilkins ripped a triple into the gap in left-center to score all three and extend Houston's lead to 5-1.

5^th | The Knights and Cougars traded a run in the third and fourth, but Houston was back to its scoring ways in the fifth. A hit-by-pitch followed by four straight singles allowed freshman Isabel Cintron and Wilkins to score to push the Cougars' edge to 8-2.

UCF scored its third run of the game on a sac fly off the bat of Ashleigh Griffin in the home half of the frame, allowing Houston to maintain a five-run lead.

6^th | Houston again added a pair of runs in the sixth. Singles from Aguilar and Mitchael to lead off the inning, followed by a four-pitch walk from Redmond, allowed Cintron to drive home Aguilar with a groundout. Wilkins getting hit by a pitch reloaded the bases and Wells capped Houston's day on offense with a sac-fly to center that scored Mitchael.

While UCF added a run in the seventh, Michalak shut the door to clinch a 10-4 victory.
