Houston falls in second game of series to BYU
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Softball team fell in the second game of a three-game set to BYU, 4-2, on Friday night at Cougar Softball Stadium.
BYU's (18-6, 3-2 Big 12) Kate Dahle (6-2) secured the win after tossing four innings and allowing two runs on six hits including a homer. Jada Villegas (2) also earned a save for BYU by spinning three shutout innings to close the game. Maddie Hartley (3-2) took the loss for Houston (17-10, 2-4 Big 12), ceding two runs (one earned) in 2.2 innings in the circle.

2nd | BYU took the lead with a solo homer to left-center off the bat of Lindy Milkowski.
4th | The Provo, Utah, based team added another run in the fourth with another solo shot from Milkowski to push the score to 2-0.
Houston answered in the bottom of the inning. Freshman Madox Mitchael reached on a single through the left side to set up a two-run home run from Redmond to tie the game.
5th | Miranda Mansfield reached on a single to start the fifth for BYU. After advancing to second on a sacrifice bunt and third on a wild pitch, Mansfield scored on a single up the middle to reclaim the lead for BYU, 3-2.
6th | BYU added another run to its lead in the sixth. After a runner reached on an error to start the inning, BYU advanced her with a sac-bunt to put a runner in scoring position and Amiya Hernandez scored on a single up the middle to secure a 4-2 win for BYU.
UP NEXT
Houston concludes the series at noon, Saturday. Houston will celebrate its 25th anniversary season with alumni recognized throughout the game while the first 150 fans will receive a 25th anniversary commemorative ticket in celebration of the event.
