Key Innings
1st | Cintron started Houston's attack in the first with a one-out double to right-center. A single and error on a hit from Wells allowed the catcher to score to put the Cougars ahead, 1-0. Another single from sophomore Makenna Mitchell and a walk from junior Gabby Rawls loaded the bases for Houston with only one out. Wilkins picked up her first RBI of the day by drawing a walk to push home Wells while Redmond singled home Mitchell to cap a three-run first for Houston.
3rd | Tarleton answered in the third. After loading the bases, a walk put the Texans on the board. A defensive miscue allowed another run to score while Tarleton pushed the tying run across with a single through the left side.
6th | The Cougars put the game away in the sixth. Sophomore Bethany Aguilar opened the inning with an infield single and Wilkins immediately followed her up with a two-run homer to put Houston back in front, 5-3. In the next at-bat, Redmond capped the scoring with a solo-shot to right field to give the Cougars a 6-3 victory.
