PREVIEW: Houston Closes Regular Season at Baylor; Series Adjusted Due to Weather

Expected inclement weather shifts originally scheduled final series of the regular season
WACO, Texas – The University of Houston Softball team closes the regular season with a trip to Baylor for a three-game series at Getterman Stadium this weekend.
Anticipated inclement weather has amended the original schedule for the weekend. The teams will now play a doubleheader on Friday starting at 4 p.m. with the series finale on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.

- The Cougars rank 14th nationally in walks drawn (192), 17th in scoring (6.35) and 22nd in on-base percentage (.406).
- Lair Beautae broke the team's single season runs scored record, previously set by Kendra Cullum with 52 runs in 2013. Beautae now has 55 this season, including four games with three-or-more runs. She also tied the team's single-game runs record with four against Texas Tech on April 27. She's scored 12 runs in her last five games.
- Kennedy Thomas is also on the team's top-10 list in single-season runs with 46 this year. She's tied for ninth.
- Houston has hit four grand slams this season, bringing the program's historic total to 52.
- Houston broke its single season sacrifice flies record that it set last season, posting 23 this season. Bree Cantu leads the team with 5, which ranks 16th in the country and second in the Big 12.
- Cantu has drawn 38 walks so far this season, tying for sixth on the program's single-season list. She's seven walks away from tying the record.
- The Cougars' 324 runs scored have surpassed the program's season totals from all but one season: 2008. They're 44 runs away from the record.
- The Cougars won their first Big 12 game in style, sealing the team's highest ranked win in program history with a 12-10 win over No. 2 Texas on March 8. The victory also continued Head Coach Kristin Vesely's streak of seasons with a win over a ranked opponent.
- The team posted its best 11 game start (10-1) since 2008 when the program went 11-0. At 15-5, the team earned its best 20 game start since 2020 (16-4).
- Houston's 94 runs tied the program record for most runs through the first 11 games, originally set in 2014.
