Cougars defeats Cardinals; improves to 2-1 in duals
SAN ANTONIO – The University of Houston Tennis program opened its weekend of matches defeating Incarnate Word by a score of 6-1.

With the win, the Cougars improve to 2-1 this season in duals. On the day, Houston won three singles and two doubles matches. The Cougars won three events by default.

In doubles play, the duo of seniors Mimi Kendall-Woseley and Phonexay Chitdara continued to shine and remained undefeated on the year, winning their match, 6-4. They are now 3-0 when paired together. They were joined by sophomore Azul Pedemonti and freshman Blanca Cortijo Parreno as those to win doubles matches, as Pedemonti and Cortijo won, 6-2.

On the singles side, freshman Gabriela Giraldo was perfect on the day, sweeping the day and taking down Alejandra Landaluce with scores of 6-0, 6-0. Pedemonti (6-3, 6-4) and Cortijo Parreno (6-3, 6-0) collected the other singles wins for Houston.

Houston wraps up its time in San Antonio on Saturday with a contest against UTSA. First serve is slated for 2 p.m.
