#36 Tennis Opens Weekend with Win over West Virginia

Cougars sweep Mountaineers, 4-0, to open final weekend of regular
MORGANTOWN, W. Va.  — The #36 University of Houston Tennis team opened its final weekend of regular season play with a 4-0 sweep of West Virginia on Friday afternoon at the Mountaineer Tennis Courts.
Houston (17-5, 7-5 Big 12) opened the day taking the doubles point as juniors Valeriia Krokhotina and Iva Sepa dominated Lyla Byers and Sosanne Malaak, 6-0, on court three.
West Virginia (7-12, 1-11 Big 12) evened the doubles point as Julie Bousseau and Audrey Moutama defeated seniors Sophie Schouten and Chems Doha Zeghlouli, 6-4, on court one.
Juniors Elizaveta Morozova and Petja Drame downed Lucia Tognoni and Laura Morillo, 6-4, on court two to claim the doubles point for the Cougars.
In singles, Schouten earned her 15th win of the season as she bested Malaak, 6-2, 6-4, on court six to double Houston's advantage.
Sepa won her second match in a row as she took care of Byers in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3, on court four.
For the second match in a row, Drame clinched the match for the Cougars on court five with a pair of 6-3 set victories to push her win streak to four.Â
