#41 Tennis Closes Home Slate with Win Over Kansas State

Cougars defeat Kansas State, 4-1, in final home match of the season
HOUSTON — The #41 University of Houston Tennis team closed its 2026 home slate with a 4-1 victory over Kansas State on Sunday afternoon at the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility.
Houston (16-5, 6-5 Big 12) won the doubles point with their lower two courts as Petja Drame and Elizaveta Morozova earned an early advantage as they defeated Sasha Kyselova and Chanel Rustemova, 6-3 on court two. Iva Sepa and Valeriia Krokhotina clinched the doubles point, taking out Varvara Bernovich and Diana Smolinska, 6-4, on court three.
After trailing 4-5, Sophie Schouten and Chems Doha Zeghlouli, the senior duo rattled off back-to-back games to take a 6-5 lead before the match was abandoned.
Krokhotina was quick to add the Cougars first point in singles on court three as she defeated Kyselova with a pair of 6-1 sets.
Sepa followed suit as she handed Smolinska a pair of 6-2 set losses for Houston's third point of the afternoon.
Kansas State (5-12, 2-9 Big 12) got on the board as Maralgoo defeated Morozova, 6-3, 6-2, on court one.
Drame used a pair of 6-3 sets wins on court five against Rustemova to clinch the match for Houston.
