HUNTSVILLE, Texas - In the fastest game of the season, Houston Softball dropped 2-0 to Sam Houston State Wednesday evening.

The Cougars drop to 19-20 on the season while the Bearkats improve to 10-24 on the season.

Sam Houston took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning off three base hits to the left center gap. The Cougars held the Bearkats for two shutout innings until senior Hillary Adams, the all-time SHSU leader in HRs, hit her 39th collegiate home run to lead off the bottom of the fourth.

Four Cougars combined for the four hits put up against SHSU pitcher Jordan Franks.

Sophomore RHP Shelby Miller (4-5) pitched a complete game allowing only two runs, six hits while striking out two. She did not walk a batter.

UP NEXT
Houston travels to Orlando, Fla., for another American Athletic Conference series as the Cougars face No. 17/18 UCF. The series begins with a doubleheader on Saturday at noon (CT) followed by the series finale on Sunday at 11 am (CT).

All UH main campus students are admitted FREE to regular-season softball home games with a valid student ID.

Fans can purchase general admission single-game tickets beginning as low as $5 for youth and $8 for adults through UHCougars.com or by contacting the Houston Athletics Ticket Office at 713-GO-COOGS (462-6647).

While single-game tickets are available, fans are encouraged to save and purchase 2015 season tickets. General admission season tickets are just $75 for 28 home games ($2.68 per ticket).
