Cougars Fall To Temple 1-0

HOUSTON - The Houston Cougar soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Temple in a game that saw over an hour long weather delay in American Athletic Conference play on Friday at Carl Lewis Field.
Junior goalkeeper Jordan Brown collected seven saves, but Temple got an improbable goal from just past midfield to defeat the Cougars. Brown tallied 12 saves on the weekend and certainly added to her American Athletic Conference leading saves per game average.
"I knew this was a tough weekend with UConn and Temple, who was in second place coming into this week," head coach Chris Pfau said. "We did a great job on Thursday with UConn and getting a result, but I was very disappointed in the performance in the first half of today's game. We had a chance to show that we can compete in this league, and to come out as flat as we did just was not good enough."
Temple found the only goal of the game on a ball from just left of the midfield stripe that sophomore Kayla Cunningham drilled into the top-left corner of the net.
The match was delayed with 27 minutes remaining, and after an hour and 23 minute weather delay was resumed and completed.
