McCluer earns Houston’s second Big 12 Goalkeeper of the Week honor
HOUSTON — University of Houston Soccer junior goalkeeper Sierra McCluer earned Big 12 Goalkeeper of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.
McCluer earned the award after being the only goalkeeper in the Big 12 to log two complete-game clean sheets, shutting out TCU, 2-0, on Thursday and UCF, 1-0, on Sunday.
The win over TCU was the first in 24 years while the victory over UCF was the 10th win of the season and the sixth conference win. Houston's six conference wins are the most since 2001 when it was a member of Conference USA.
The award is McCluer's third conference Goalkeeper of the Week honor after winning two at SFA. It's Houston's second ever Big 12 Goalkeeper of the Week honor and fourth overall Big 12 weekly honor.Â
