Houston earns sixth conference win for the first time since 2001

ORLANDO — The University of Houston Soccer team snapped UCF's five-game winning streak and their undefeated home slate with a 1-0 win on Sunday afternoon at the UCF Soccer and Track Complex.

The win is only the third for Houston (10-3-4, 6-2-1 Big 12) over UCF (10-4-1, 5-3-1 Big 12) and just the second win in Orlando for the Cougars.

Houston's win marked the 10th of the season which is the first time since 2021 the Cougars have posted double digit victories in a season. The sixth conference win is a first since 2001 when the Cougars went 6-4 in Conference USA play.

The Cougars got on the board in the 12th minute when sophomore Bailey Cate cleaned up a mishandled UCF clearance. It was the seventh goal of the season for Cate to lead the Cougars.
Houston's pressure defense remained stout as the Knights only managed seven shots with three on target.

UP NEXT
The Cougars close the regular season home slate when they host #18 Kansas at 7 p.m. Friday for their Black Out match at the Carl Lewis International Complex. Tickets for the match are available here.
