Cougar Softball Looses Grip on #22 Lady Cajuns

Lafayette, Louisiana - The Cougars could not put enough runs on the board to counter the big hitters of Coach Holas' alma mater Louisiana Lafayette. The Cajuns put up six run to Houston's one. The Cougars will be up and ready to see the Cajuns again on Sunday February 24. at 1:00pm.
The Lady Cajuns took the lead in the first inning by scoring Becky McMurtry on a double by Missy Martin. The Cajuns of Lafayette scored a second on a home run by Alana Addison to make the score 2-0
Kristen Glowacz hit a leg splitter up the middle in the bottom of the fifth and Lindsay Durham singled to put runners on second and third, but the Cougars could not produce a run in the bottom of that inning.
Missy Martin of Lafayette managed a second homerun in the top of the sixth that added two to the board for the Cajuns. The score in the top of the sixth 4-0.
Houston scored their lone run in the top of the sixth. Riane Netardus earned to first single followed by Ray Ferreris and the RBI hit by Kim Cote.
Pitching for the Cougars today was Jenny Johnson, who is now 4-3. Johnson struck out twelve batters in seven innings add to the 51 K's already on the season. The Cougars are back in action tomorrow at 11:45 and 4:15pm versus Florida and Northwestern State.
