Soccer Welcomes Tarleton State on Sunday

HOUSTON — The University of Houston Soccer team continues its homestand when it faces Tarleton State at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Carl Lewis International Complex.

The Cougars host Kids Day and Mental Health Awareness Day on Sunday. Free coloring pages and green ribbons will be available at the marketing table while supplies last. A Kids Zone will be adjacent to the facility and fans are encouraged to stick around for postgame autographs.

LAST TIME OUT
Houston cruised past Northwestern State, 5-0, in its home opener on Thursday. Sophomore Samira Minor recorded her second-career brace while senior Danielle Shannon, junior Skylar Miller and sophomore Bailey Cate all recorded their first goals as Cougars.

The Cougars improved their non-conference shutout streak to six games dating back to Sept. 1, 2025. Houston has not lost a non-conference game in the Ben Williams Era.

ABOUT THE COUGARS

The Cougars have allowed just one goal to non-conference opponents in the Ben Williams Era.
With double-digit shot outputs in their first two games, the Cougars recorded double-digit shots in every non-conference game of the Ben Williams Era so far and was the fifth time with 20 or more attempts.
Six of Houston's opponents are featured in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 — Vanderbilt (T3), Baylor (6), Kansas (12), TCU (15), Memphis (21) and West Virginia (22).
The Cougars face four opponents for the first time this season. Houston faces FGCU, Northwestern State, Abilene Christian and Vanderbilt for the first time in program history.
Houston returns 14 players from the 2025 season including three players that missed last season due to injuries.
Among those returning is All-Conference standout Samira Minor who earned a spot on the All-Big 12 Second Team and All-Big 12 Freshman Team after leading the Cougars with six goals.
The Cougars return more than 70 percent of their production from last season as 24 of the team's 34 goals are back along with 62.5 percent of assists also returning.
Houston welcomes 15 newcomers including eight transfers and seven freshmen.
Fifth-years Ella Morgan and Morgan Donohue along with junior Casey Maddox were voted captains for the 2026 season.

ABOUT TARLETON STATE

Tarleton State is 0-0-2 to start the season with ties against Texas A&M Corpus Christi (0-0) and UTEP (1-1).
Head Coach Erik Solberg is in his first season leading the Texans.
Of the Texans' 35 goals from 2025, just three return.
Tarleton State's roster is composed of 12 returners and 10 newcomers.

HISTORY WITH TARLETON STATE

Houston is 2-0 against Tarleton State.
The last meeting was a 1-0 victory for Cougars (Aug. 25, 2024).
Houston has outscored Tarleton State 5-1 in the overall series.
