Abdur-Rahim Records Season High, Women’s Basketball Falls to #18 Texas Tech

Lady Raiders sweep regular season meetings against Cougars
HOUSTON – Graduate forward Amirah Abdur-Rahim posted a season best 18 points as the University of Houston Women's Basketball team fell, 85-61, against #18 Texas Tech on Saturday evening inside Fertitta Center.
The Lady Raiders (22-3, 9-3 Big 12) recorded the second victory of the season over the Cougars (7-16, 1-11 Big 12).
Abdur-Rahim led Houston with a season high of 18 points. Junior guard Kierra Merchant scored 13 points for her third consecutive game in double figures. Graduate guard Briana Peguero rounded out the double-digit scoring with 12 points.
Bailey Maupin led Texas Tech with 25 points, followed by Jalynn Bristow with 15 points and Gemma Nunez with 13 points.
The Cougars opened the first quarter on a 7-0 run for a 7-2 lead, but the Lady Raiders answered with a 16-3 surge to take a 21-12 advantage.
Houston continued to battle but was unable to cut into the deficit as Texas Tech secured the 85-61 win.
