Women's Basketball Drops Regular Season Finale to UCF

Cougars unable to defeat Knights on Senior Day
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Women's Basketball team dropped its regular season finale, 72-62, against UCF inside Fertitta Center on Sunday.
Houston (7-22, 1-17 Big 12) had three players in double figures. Senior guard TK Pitts recorded 13 points and seven rebounds for her 14th double-digit outing this season. Graduate forward Amirah Abdur-Rahim scored 12 points and led the team with eight rebounds. Freshman Kayla King rounded out the scoring for Houston with 10 points.
UCF (11-18, 3-15 Big 12) had three Knights record double-doubles. Khyala Ngodu led the team with 20 points and 10 rebounds while Kristol Ayson added 16 points and 10 rebounds. Mahogany Chandler-Roberts led the team in rebounds with 11 and scored 12 points.
The Cougars and Knights battled in the first quarter with UCF taking a 21-19 advantage. King scored five of her 10 points in the first frame.
Houston opened the second quarter with an 8-2 run to go up by four. UCF tied the game twice, but Houston responded to take a 38-36 lead at halftime.
The third quarter was a tight one as five lead changes ensued. Abdur-Rahim and redshirt senior guard Kyndall Hunter combined for five points to give Houston a four-point lead. UCF produced a 13-2 run to end the quarter with a 56-49 advantage.
Houston used an 8-0 run in the fourth quarter to cut UCF's lead down to one. The Knights scored 10 of their final 12 points from the charity stripe to pick up their third Big 12 win of the season.
