Houston heads out of state for the first time this season when it visits West Virginia and Cincinnati
HOUSTON – After an hour's worth of weather delays, the University of Houston Tennis program fell, 4-0, to #21 Oklahoma at the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility on Sunday.
The Cougars (1-11, 0-6 Big 12) leave Texas for the first time this season when they travel to Morgantown, W. Va., to face the Mountaineers at 5 p.m., Friday at the Mountaineer Tennis Courts.
The road swing continues when Houston heads to Cincinnati, Ohio, at noon, Sunday, March 24, to take on the Bearcats at the Trabert-Talberet Tennis Center.
DOUBLES
On court one, No. 22 duo of Dana Guzman and Roisin Gilheany defeated sophomores Sophie Schouten and Sonya Kovalenko, 6-4.
Oklahoma (9-4, 4-1 Big 12) took the doubles point when Chloe Noel and Ava Catanzarite took a back-and-forth battle against junior Elena Trencheva and sophomore Gabriela Cortes, 6-4.
SINGLES
After the rain stalled the first set of singles, No. 33 Julia Garcia Ruiz took down Schouten on court two, 6-1, 6-1.
On court four, Noel defeated Cortes, 6-0, 6-3, to put the Sooners within one of clinching the match.
The final point for Oklahoma came on court five as Carazarite fought off a first-set comeback from freshman Nina Skoric to win, 6-4, 6-1.
