Cougars close out 2019-20 home schedule
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Women's Basketball team will face No. 6/4 UConn on Saturday afternoon at the Fertitta Center. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m. and the game will air on ESPN3.
GAME NOTES
• Houston enters Saturday's game with a 12-16 overall record this season, including a 5-9 mark in conference play.
• Houston has four players averaging double-digits this season led by Dymond Gladney with 11.5 points per game, followed by Dorian Branch with 11.0 points per game. Dorian Branch contributes 10.7 points per contest, followed by Julia Blackshell-Fair with 10.3.
• Houston is averaging 62.3 points per game on 38.8 percent shooting from the field and a 27.4 percent mark from beyond the 3-point line. The Cougars allow 66.9 points per game on defense while letting opponents shoot 41.5 percent and 31.0 percent from the field and beyond the arc, respectively.
• Hill leads Houston on the glass, pulling down 6.6 rebounds per contest.
• Houston is a force to be reckoned with on the boards this season, averaging 37.6 rebounds per game including over 15 offensive boards per game.
• Houston forces 18.6 turnovers per game, with 15 or more forced turnovers in 25 of its 28 games this season. Under Coach Hughey, Houston has been one of the most active defensive teams in the country over the past two seasons. The Cougars are experts at protecting the rim, entering the game ranked 66th nationally in blocks (111) and 79th in Blocks Per Game (4.0).

• UConn is averaging 77.3 points per game on 47.5 percent shooting from the field and 40.1 percent shooting from beyond the arc.
• The Huskies enter their 35th season under Head Coach Geno Auriemma and are led in scoring by Megan Walker who is averaging 19.3 points per game. Walker also leads the Mustangs on the boards with 8.6 rebounds per game, as Crystal Dangerfield leads the squad with 100 assists this season.
