Houston Travels to Battle Auburn

The Cougars head East for weekend match-up against the Tigers
HOUSTON - The Houston Women's Tennis team travels to take on Auburn at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Yarbrough Tennis Center in Auburn, Alabama.
The Cougars will square off against the Tigers after securing a pair of wins against Sam Houston State and Incarnate Word, last weekend at their home courts. Houston swept the Bearkats in doubles 3-0, while only dropping two matches in singles on Friday. On Sunday, they continued their streak by defeating the Cardinals with a 6-1 victory.
Sophomore Ndindi Ndunda led the Cougars in singles, winning both of her matches in Flight 1. In doubles, Sophie Gerits and Phonexay Chitdara dropped only three games, rolling through their opponents in both matches. The Belgian duo remains undefeated for the season.
ABOUT THE TIGERS
Auburn hosts the Cougars for their fifth home game, playing their seventh match of the season. This season, the Tigers carry a 5-1 record, falling to conference rival Kentucky, 4-0. The next day, they faced Georgia Tech, beating them 4-3. The Tigers are led by sophomore Jaeda Daniel, who is ranked #61 by the ITA and was named to the All-SEC First Team.
UP NEXT FOR HOUSTON
Houston will open American conference play in a double-header against Wichita State at 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 8 at the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility. The next day, the Cougars will take on Stephen F. Austin at 1 p.m.
