Cougars look to stay undefeated at home
HOUSTON - The Houston Women's Tennis team will host Sam Houston State at 2 p.m. on Friday and Incarnate Word at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 27. Both matches will be held at the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility.
Houston opened the spring season against Texas A&M a week ago, falling 7-0. However, they rebounded the next day with a 6-1 win over Lamar at Winston Tennis Facility. The Cougars took care of business to win the doubles point and dropped only one singles match, securing five singles matches in straight sets.
ABOUT THE BEARKATS
The Bearkats are set to play Rice on Sunday after facing the Cougars. Their last match was a 7-0 sweep against Prairie View A&M on Saturday. Sam Houston State holds a 2-0 record. The Bearkats star player this season is sophomore Sahaja Yamalapalli Polina Mutel, who holds a 2-0 record in singles this spring season.
ABOUT THE CARDINALS
Incarnate Word is set to open its spring season this weekend, playing Louisiana on Saturday prior to facing Houston on Sunday. The Cardinals finished the 2018 season with an overall record of 5-18.
