HOW IT HAPPENED
Houston struck first in doubles-play when the duo of junior Sveva Mazzari and freshman Lauren Alter won their third consecutive match to open doubles with a 6-4 win over Skylar Holloway and Jessica Golovin. The win moved the team to 3-1 as a team this season.
However, Jade Lewis and Becca Weissman defeated freshman Constandena Nicolaou and junior Ana Glumac 6-3 to even doubles, before Ryann Foster and Joana Valle Costa beat freshmen Tsveta Dimitrova and Cristina Rovira 6-4 to earn the first point.
Houston fought back to tie the overall score at 1-1 with a win from Glumac in singles on court 6. Playing against Abby Owens, Glumac didn't drop a game, winning 6-0, 6-0. The win for Glumac is her third in the spring season.
LSU regained the lead with a straight-set win on court 4 for Golovin over Alter. Golovin won the first set 6-2 before clinching the match with a 6-3 win in set two, making the score 2-1 LSU. The Tigers extended their lead with a win on court 3 as No. 63 Costa defeated Rovira 6-2, 6-4.
