HOUSTON Ã¢â‚¬" Houston Softball dropped a 7-3 decision to Oklahoma State in the series finale on Sunday.

The Cougars fell to 12-13 on the season while OSU improved to 14-12.

Freshman Maya Thomas had another great game as she went 2-for-3 with two infield singles. Katie St. Pierre drew the lead-off walk to extend her reached base streak to 26 games dating back to last season.

Houston strung together a couple base hits and Cowgirl errors to take the 2-0 lead after two innings. But OSU responded the following inning when they loaded the bases before Red Reasnor hit a grand slam to left center, putting the Cowgirls up 4-2.

From there, OSU added a few more runs in the fifth and seventh innings to seal the win.

In the final push for a rally, Houston bats came alive with three-straight base hits to load the bases. Junior Jaylin Baldridge entered the game to pinch hit and knocked the leadoff single back to the pitcher. Kaylin Crumpton slapped one just past the OSU first baseman to reach base and St. Pierre followed with a slapper through the left side to put runners on all three bases. A sacrifice pop out to second base by freshman Brooke Vannoy plated a run for the Cougars, but St. Pierre was thrown out trying to take third ending the game.

Freshman starting pitcher Presley Bell (3-4) took the loss for the Cougars. She threw 2.0 innings, allowed four earned runs and struck out one.
