"Playing one of the best players in the nation, I knew that I had to bring a clear game plan into the match and not give away easy points. With help from my coaches, I was able to do that," said Vogasari. "I am satisfied with this win, but the tournament is far from over, and I still have plenty that I want to accomplish before I leave New York."
With the win, Vogasari, the 68th-ranked player in the nation, advances to the Round of 16, where she will face No. 43 Maegan Manasse of Cal. Manasse defeated Florida's Josie Kuhlman on Thursday, 6-0, 6-1.
Manasse and the Cougar sensation have already tangled once this season, with the Cal player taking a 6-2, 6-2 win on September 30 at the Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships in Los Angeles.
