Vogasari Continues Fall Dominance at USTA/ITA Texas Regional

Houston - Despoina Vogasaricontinued her week of success at the USTA/ITA Texas Regional Championships with a record-setting performance.
Taking on Alexis Pereira of TCU in the semifinals, Vogasari put forth the strong effort that has been present through the Texas Regional, powering past Pereira by a score of 6-3, 6-1.
With the victory against Pereira, Vogasari becomes the first Cougar ever to make the finals of the USTA/ITA Texas Regional Championships.
She will play Natalie Beazant of Rice in the championship finals tomorrow, with the match kicking-off at 9 AM.
Elena Kordolaimi almost created an all-Cougar final on her own, giving a valiant effort versus Beazant, Kordolaimi was unable to set up the dream match-up, falling 6-2, 6-0 in her semi final match.
Should Vogasari win tomorrow, she would advance to the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, in Flushing Meadows, NY - the site of the US Open.
The USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships serve as the culmination of the fall season. This prestigious event features a 32-player singles draw and a 20-team doubles draw for men and women.
Gaining automatic entry into the tournament are champions from the USTA/ITA Division I Regional Championships held across the country, winners of the USTA/ITA National Small College Super Bowl, and the consolation champions, doubles finalists, men's singles quarterfinalists and women's singles semifinalists from the ITA Men's and Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships, which Vogasari and Kordolaimi just played in.
