Softball Inks Four Signees

HOUSTON - University of Houston head softball coach Kyla Holas announced the signing of four student-athletes to National Letters of Intent on Friday. The class includes three signees from the state of Texas and one from Oklahoma.

The four signees are Katie St. Pierre, Tess Soefje, Julana Shrum and Jessica Snyder. All four have routinely dominated their high school district action and competed for nationally prominent and successful club teams as well.

This year's signing class includes a catcher/first baseman (Soefje), a pitcher (Shrum), a utility player (Snyder) and an outfielder (St. Pierre).

"Julana brings something we have not had to our program. A lefty four hole hitter and pitcher. She will be a key part to our continued success."

• Helped lead team to No. 17 national ranking (NFCA/USA Today and ESPN Rise)
• Led Lady Wolverines to district title all three years of high school career including advancing to the Regional Finals (2010) and Semifinals (2009, 2011)
• Holds school record for hit by pitches (45)

"Jessica has had a fantastic high school career. We expect her to fill some big shoes offensively, but with her mental approach and fundamentals at the plate I think she can help replace some of those numbers we are losing in seniors (Jennifer) Klinkert and (Melissa) Gregson."
