ITA Regionals Recap - Day Two

FORT WORTH - Houston's Loli Gomez and Leila Salek stormed past No. 12 seed Janet Durham and Sophie Frankam with an 8-5 victory in the second round of doubles action on day two at the ITA Regionals Friday at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center on the TCU campus.
Gomez/Salek are one of only four unseeded doubles team still alive in the main draw. The duo advances to face No. 7 seed Megan Falcon and Hannah Robinson of LSU Saturday at 5pm.
In singles action, Vicky Simpson opened the day by qualifying for the main singles draw with a 7-6, 6-1 victory. Despite a 6-2, 6-2 setback, Sonja Nikolic also was able to qualify for the main draw.
The Cougars dropped all four opening round singles matches in the main draw but will look to bounce back in the consolation round that begins Saturday at 8:30am.
