Cougar netters down Lamar

BEAUMONT, Texas - The University of Houston tennis team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 7-0 win over the Lamar Lady Cardinals Sunday afternoon in Beaumont, Tx. The Cougars opened the day with three wins in doubles before sweeping through singles play.
In singles play, number one Biljana Dimovska defeated Elena Korbout 6-0, 6-1, Miranda Foley wone her number two match over Hayley Bakker 6-1, 6-4 and Hanaa Rahzi won her number three singles match 6-4, 6-3 over Andrea Martinez. Diana Martin won her singles match 6-1, 6-1 over Kendall Gibbs, Kami Miller defeated Nicole Weber 6-1, 6-2 and Sandy Blajer defeated Beatriz DeRegil 6-0, 6-0.
In doubles play the Cougars won all three of their matches as Dimovska and Foley beat Weber and Martinez 8-3, Rhazi and Urbin won 8-6 over Korbout and Gibbs while Terblanche and Miller defeated Bakker and DeRegil 8-1.
The Cougars will be in action again Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. when they host Texas State University at the John E. Hoff Varsity Courts.
