HOUSTON - The University of Houston tennis team improved to 3-0 Wednesday afternoon with a 5-1 win over the Texas State University-San Marcos Bobcats at the Metropolitan Club in downtown Houston.
Biljana Domovska picked up a 6-0, 6-1 win over Melanie Hall in the number one singles spot while Miranda Foley handed Leja Sirola a 6-1, 6-3 loss in the number two spot. In the number four spot Yolandi Terblanche cruised past Tina Klemenc 6-0, 6-0, Kami Miller defeated Gillian Derskena 6-2, 6-0 loss in the number five spot, while Diana Martin beat Katie Felder 6-2, 6-1 in the sixth spot.
Texas State-San Marcos picked up its only win of the match as Magaret Potyrala beat Hanaa Rhazi 6-4, 4-6, 10-4 in the number three spot.
Due to rain, the match was moved indoors at the Metropolitan Club instead of at the John E. Hoff Varsity Courts at the University of Houston. As a result, time did not allow for doubles to be played.
Cougar tennis will be in action again on Friday when they host Conference USA opponent UAB at 2 p.m.
