Cougars Split With East Carolina

Houston, Texas - The Cougars (25-17, 5-8) rallied in the eighth to win the first 1-0 over ECU (26-15, 8-5) and could only score one run in the second losing 5-1.
Cougar pitcher Jamie Falco held the Pirates to one hit in the first game of the double-header on Saturday. Houston scattered nine hits over eight innings, before earning the win. The lone hit of the game by East Carolina's centerfielder, Beth Bridger.
In the eighth inning, Lindsay Durham led off with a double, followed by back-to-back singles by Riane Netardus and Leslie Seay. Kristen Glowacz knocked in the games only run with a sacrifice fly to centerfield.
Netardus and Seay had two and three hits respectively in the win. Falco moves to 11-5 on the season with the win over the Pirates. Nicole Bacon (14-9) receives the loss for ECU.
In the second game, ECU decided to move ahead in the second game by scoring two in the third inning. Angela Manzo and Katie Manuse singled and both scored on an error on a hit by Eva Herrron. They upped the score to 5-0 in the fourth on hits by Brandi Benedict, Beth Bridger and Manuse.
Houston posted their only run of the game in the sixth inning. Kristen Glowacz reached on a hit to left field and was knocked in by Jenilee Skender. Leslie Seay and Jenilee Skender both had two hits in the second game of the day. The win goes to Laurie Davidson making her 10-5 for the year and tying the series, before the third and final game on Sunday at 1:00pm.
