Cougar Softball Rolls Over Maryland Terrapins

Plant City, Fla. - The Houston Cougars entered their fifth game of the tournament with a possible first place position in their pool. The only thing standing in the way was the Terrapins of Maryland. Houston (20-9) allowed only four hits in the game today putting up five hits and three runs for the game. The game's final score 3-0 Houston Cougars.
Houston's Ali McDougall was the first player to cross the plate for the Cougars. She hit her second homerun of the tournament and the third of the year out of the left-center fense.
In the bottom of the fifth the Cougars added a run, scoring Kim Nesloney who got on by an error. The RBI went to Lindsay Durham for her single to centerfield. The team added an insurance run in the sixth to keep the Terrapins out of the way. Kristen Glowacz scored on an error after singling to right center and Kim Cote's ball made the run possible.
The pitcher for the Cougars was Jamie Falco With today's win she is now 9-2 for the season. Falco threw six strikeouts and only allowed four hits in today's game. With the win the Cougars finish first in Pool D and will get a first round bye in single elimination play at 5:00pm and will play at 7:00pm.
