Elliot Bickerstaff joined the University of Houston Athletics Department as associate director for sports medicine in January 2025.
In his current role, Bickerstaff works with the Houston Men's and Women's Cross Country and Men's and Women's Track and Field teams. He works with team physicians to provide care and rehabilitation for those student-athletes through extensive rehab plans, diagnostic skills and general medicine evaluation techniques.
Bickerstaff came to Houston after working as assistant athletics trainer at Murray State for the previous five months. He worked with the Football, Men's and Women's Cross Country and Women's Track and Field teams.
In addition to his athletics training duties at Murray State, he also worked as a research team leader, research assistant and teaching assistant as an undergraduate and served as a graduate teaching assistant as well.
A native of Paducah, Ky., Bickerstaff received his bachelor's degree in biology with minors and chemistry and psychology from Murray State in 2019. There, he was named the Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Assistant in 2018 and was a five-year member of the National Society of Leadership and Success.
He earned his master's degree in athletic training in 2024 from Troy where he was a member of Iota Tau Alpha honor society.
Bickerstaff is a licensed athletics trainer and a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association.
He lives in Houston.
