Soccer Welcomes Oklahoma State in Blue Out Game

HOUSTON — The University of Houston Soccer team looks to continue its undefeated start to Big 12 Conference play when it hosts Oklahoma State at noon Sunday from the Carl Lewis International Complex.

The Cougars (6-1-3, 2-0 Big 12) welcome Oklahoma State (5-3-2, 1-1 Big 12) for their first trip to Houston in its Blue Out and Faculty Appreciation Game. Fans are encouraged to wear their Houston Blue and UH faculty and staff can enjoy discounted tickets by presenting their staff ID at the ticket window.

The first 100 fans will also receive a mini Houston Soccer soccer ball.

LAST TIME OUT
The Cougars used a second half comeback to defeat Iowa State 2-1. Fifth year Laney Gonzales used an Olimpico to record her first career goal and to tie the match in the 68th minute.

Sophomore Bailey Cate notched the game winner in the 73rd minute on an assist from Gonzales.

Houston won its second straight Big 12 Conference game for the first time since joining the league and the first time winning back-to-back conference games since 2021.

ABOUT THE COUGARS

Houston returns 14 players from the 2025 season including three players that missed last season due to injuries.
Houston welcomes 15 newcomers including eight transfers and seven freshmen.
Fifth-years Ella Morgan and Morgan Donohue along with junior Casey Maddox were voted captains for the 2026 season. It is the second consecutive season Maddox has been voted a captain.
Sophomore Bailey Cate paces the Cougars with six goals on the season.
Twelve Cougars have scored a goal this season including four with multiple goals.
Houston goalkeepers have combined for six shutouts this season.
Houston leads the Big 12 in five different statistical categories including sixth in the country in goal differential.
The Cougars are looking for their third win in Big 12 Conference play for the first time since entering the league. Houston has not won three-straight conference games since 2021.

ABOUT OKLAHOMA STATE

Oklahoma State enters Sunday's match with a 5-3-2 record and 1-1 in conference play.
In their last match, the Cowgirls lost to Baylor, 2-1 in Waco, Texas.
Head Coach Colin Carmichael is in his 22nd season with the Cowgirls and owns a 274-126-57 record in Stillwater.
Goalkeeper Avery Bass is the reigning Big 12 Goalkeeper of the Week while defender Emmy Hedden was named the league's Defensive Player of the Week.
Bass leads the Cowgirls with 17 saves on the season while helping Oklahoma State to three shutouts.

Sunday's match marks just the third meeting between Houston and Oklahoma State.
