Softball Adds Two More Transfers

Cougars make fifth and sixth splashes in the portal
HOUSTON – University of Houston Softball Head Coach Chrissy Schoonmaker announced the signing of a two new transfers to the roster on Tuesday.

Skylar Brennan, OF, Illinois
A 5-foot-8 outfielder from Lee's Summit, Mo., Brennan spent the 2026 season at Illinois where she appeared in and started 53 games in the outfield.
Â
She supplied a big bat in the lineup with 50 hits while averaging .318 on the season, adding eight doubles and 12 RBIs. Brennan provided 13 multi-hit games on the year while earning 23 walks, posting a .969 fielding average along with 60 putouts, three assists and one double play.

Prior to her time with the Fighting Illini, Brennan spent two seasons at Florida Southwestern State where she amassed a plethora of NJCAA and NFCA All-America and All-Region awards while producing a .401/.467/1.219 slash as well 148 hits, 110 RBIs, 33 doubles and 21 stolen bases.

Brianna Hinson, INF, Texas Tech
A 5-foot-5 infielder from Upland, Calif., Hinson spent the 2026 season in the Big 12 at Texas Tech. She appeared in four games with the Red Raiders, making two plate appearances with her first career hit coming against UC Riverside.Â

A star player at Upland High School, Hinson was tabbed Most Valuable Player by her teammates while also earning Defensive Player of the Year honors twice as an All-League Second Team honoree. Hinson made an impact as a slapper, tallying a .538 batting average with an OPS of 1.263.

Brennan and Hinson join the list of additions this summer for the Cougars alongside Caylee Gaytan, Peyton Nina-Johnson, Yanina Sherwood and Larisa Perez as the first quartet of transfers to sign with Houston ahead of the 2027 season, bringing the total up to 11 new faces (five freshmen) for the Cougars.Â
