LaLima homered while Cougars post double-digit hits

NACODOCHES, Texas – Despite collecting double-digit hits for the 17^th time this season, Houston Baseball fell in its midweek contest to SFA, 5-2, at Pilgrim's Park on Tuesday.

Sophomore Jackson LaLima drove home both of Houston's (18-25) runs to highlight the offensive effort in the game while senior Cade Climie joined him in posting multi-hit games as they both collected a pair. Eight different Cougars recorded a base-knock in the game.

Freshman Caden Cooper (1-2) took the loss after throwing 4.0 innings where he allowed two runs on five hits while striking out one. Hayden Tronson (1-0) claimed the win, tossing a shutout inning where he ceded two hits and a walk. Jack James (2) earned the save for closing out the game with 1.2 perfect innings on the mound.

SFA (24-22) took the lead with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first. While a LaLima RBI single put Houston on the board in the fifth, the Lumberjacks added three more runs in the sixth to extend their lead to 5-1.

LaLima homered in the seventh to cut the deficit to three, but SFA withstood the comeback effort to win, 5-2.

UP NEXT
Houston returns to Schroeder Park for the first time since April 11 as the Cougars host McNeese for a 6:30 p.m. start on Wednesday.
