Climie hits his third of the weekend while Schmitz turns in strong start on the mound

Ryne Rodriguez (1-1) took the loss for Houston (18-23, 4-16 Big 12). The senior allowed three runs in his 16th appearance of the season, tossing the final 2.1 innings. Nate Stern (2-0) claimed the win after throwing a shutout inning where he allowed two walks while Tanner Sagouspe (3) picked up the save after throwing the final inning for TCU (27-15, 12-8 Big 12).

Senior Paul Schmitz took a no decision on the mound for Houston in his 11th start of the season. The right-hander threw 5.2 innings where he allowed just one run on five hits while striking out a pair.Â

Climie put Houston ahead early, hitting a solo homer in the second at-bat of the game. The score held until TCU broke through with a solo homer of its own in the third off the bat of Preston Gamster.

Both team's pitchers continued to duel after, with Schmitz sitting down eight of his last 10 batters before being relieved in the sixth. Houston ended the stalemate as sophomore Jackson LaLima hit his seventh homer of the season in the seventh.Â
