Sophomore center signs with Cougars for the 2026-27 season
HOUSTON – Center Elodie Lutbert, an All-WAC Freshman and Defensive Team honoree, has signed with the University of Houston Women's Basketball program, Head Coach Matthew Mitchell announced Saturday.
Lutbert is a 6-6 center from Sainte-Luce, Martinique, with three years of eligibility remaining after playing her freshman season at Tarleton State. Lutbert became the first WAC freshman named to the league's All-Defensive Team since 2012-13.
She posted one of the top freshman seasons in Tarleton State history, setting the program's single-season blocks record with 65 and the D1 era single-season rebounds record (234).
Lutbert led the team with 7.8 rebounds per game, 2.2 blocks per game and ranked third in scoring at 10.4 points per game. She recorded three games with five blocks, becoming the first Tarleton State freshman since 2005 to reach that mark.
She also led the Texans with nine double-doubles and became the first Tarleton State freshman since the 1985-86 season to record at least nine in a season.
Prior to Tarleton State, Lutbert played for ESB Villeneuve-d'Ascq in the Ligue Féminine de Basketball (LFB).
She represented Team France at the 2025 FIBA U20 EuroBasket Championship and helped guide France to its third consecutive title. She averaged 8.4 points and 5.7 rebounds during the title run.
Lutbert also made the roster for the 2023 FIBA U18 Women's European Championships, appearing in seven games.
