Cougars strike first but Aggies rally to claim midweek victory

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Houston Baseball fell to #10 Texas A&M, 10-2, to start a nine-game road trip Tuesday at Blue Bell Park.

Junior Alex Solis (2-2) took the loss for Houston (16-19) after allowing the go-ahead homer while Texas A&M's (28-7) Grant Cunningham (3-1) secured the win after tossing 3.0 innings where he allowed four hits.

Junior Riley Jackson has reached base safely in his last 12 games. The streak is the second longest of the season for a Cougar (and longest active), behind junior Tre Broussard's 14-game streak.
Senior Tyler Cox recorded his 50^th career multi-hit game.
The game was the 177^th in the all-time series dating back to 1949.

GAME SUMMARY
Houston struck first in the midweek tilt, plating a pair of runs in the opening frame. Cox led off the game with an infield single and Broussard reached on a walk to put a pair of Cougars on base. Redshirt sophomore Xavier Perez drove home the first run of the contest with a single to center while senior Cade Climie singled to left field to plate Broussard.

The Aggies tied the game with a two-run homer in the second then claimed the lead with another two-run shot in the third. Texas A&M would go on to add six in the fifth to claim the 10-2 win.

UP NEXT
Houston heads to Morgantown, W. Va., for a three-game series against the #15 Mountaineers. The weekend starts at 5:30 p.m. CT, Friday, and continues at 3 p.m. CT, Saturday, before concluding at noon CT, Sunday.

The Cougars then head back to Houston to battle crosstown rival Rice in the second game of the Silver Glove Series at 6:30 p.m. on April 21. Houston won the first meeting in the series 13-1 in eight innings on March 10 and could clinch its fifth consecutive title with a win.
