Houston hosts Red Raiders on Friday and Buffaloes on Sunday
HOUSTON — The #36 University of Houston Tennis team looks to bounce back as it hosts #30 Texas Tech Friday and #51 Colorado on Sunday at the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility.
Both matches begin at 1 p.m. with FREE admission to all fans. FREE pizza and t-shirts are available for the first 50 fans in attendance on Friday. A live stream for both matches is available here with live stats available here.
LAST TIME OUT
The Cougars suffered their first losses of the season as they fell 4-0 to #12 Arizona State on Friday and 4-3 against #73 Arizona on Sunday.

Houston was swept in Tempe as Arizona State claimed the doubles point followed by three wins on the singles courts.

Arizona jumped out to a 3-0 lead claiming the doubles point and the first two singles points as Alexia Lavinia Puiac and Petja Drame fell in straight sets. The Cougars would claw back, tying the match at three with junior Elizaveta Morozova, junior Valeriia Krokhotina, and senior Sophie Schouten winning in straight sets.

In a winner take all match on court three, senior Chems Doha Zeghlouili lost in heart-breaking fashion, falling 3-6, 7-6(4), 3-6.

ABOUT HOUSTON
Houston is in its second season under the direction of Head Coach Katarina Adamovic and return five starters from a season ago.

The Cougars got off to their best start since 1990 at 11-0, swept its first eight opponents for the first time in program history and were ranked as high as #29 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association team poll.

Houston is ranked #36 in this week's ITA team poll while doubles pair Schouten and Zeghlouli are #89 in the doubles rankings.

Schouten leads the way for the Cougars with a perfect 10-0 singles record.

Drame and Morozova lead the Cougars with a 9-1 doubles record with Schouten and Zeghlouli right behind them with an 8-2 record.

Texas Tech is off to a 12-4 start with a 3-1 ledger in conference play including wins over Kansas, Iowa State, and Kansas State. Their only loss in conference play came to #28 Oklahoma State in Lubbock, 4-1.

The Red Raiders boast the 55th ranked doubles team as Yekaterina Dmitrichenko and Hailey Murphy hold a 12-3 record on the season.

Houston leads the all time series at 16-11 holding a 9-5 record when playing in Houston. Texas Tech has won the previous five meetings with the last meeting being a 4-0 Red Raider win in Lubbock on March 21, 2025.

Colorado split its four matches in conference play and sit at 10-4 on the season.
