Cougars slotted at 48 in 75-team poll
HOUSTON — After an undefeated start to the season, the University of Houston Tennis team is ranked #48 in the team rankings of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll, the association announced Tuesday.
The Cougars are ranked on the 75-team list for the first time since they finished the 2018 season at # 73. It's the highest team ranking in over a decade when they were tabbed #30 in the May 5, 2015 poll.
Houston is 9-0 for the first time since 1990 while sweeping its first eight opponents for the first time in program history.
Senior doubles pair Sophie Schouten and Chems Doha Zeghlouli hold steady at # 82 in this week's doubles rankings while junior duo Elizaveta Morozova and Petja Drame come in at # 87.
The Cougars take this weekend off before opening Big 12 Conference action against # 33 Utah on Thursday, Feb. 26 and # 47 BYU on Saturday, Feb. 28 at the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility. Both matches are at 1 p.m., and are free to the public.
