
PREVIEW: Cross Country to Begin 2025 Season at UIW Twilight on Friday

Cougars open season with women's 4k at 8:50 p.m. and men's 6k at 9:15 p.m.
SAN ANTONIO – The University of Houston Cross Country team begins the 2025 season at the UIW Twilight, hosted by Incarnate Word on Friday at the Classics Elite Soccer Complex. The women's 4k will start at 8:50 p.m., with the men's 6k following at 9:15 p.m.
Houston is set to compete against Incarnate Word (host), as well as other in-state competitors such as Our Lady of the Lake, Texas Southern, Texas State and Trinity.
During the summer, Houston welcomed six freshmen, with five joining the women's squad and one on the men's side.
The men's squad enters the season ranked 13th in the USTFCCCA Coaches Preseason South Central Region Poll while the women are ranked 12th as both squads look to start the season strong in San Antonio.
Houston welcomes back sophomores Caden Thurman and Zade Kayyali, who scored for the Cougars at the NCAA South Central Regional, with junior Aaron Crittenden, who served as their top finisher placed in the top 50.
For the women, Houston returns sophomores Cadence Patterson and AnnClaire Cop who closed out the 2024 season strong. Patterson ended as the top finisher for the Cougars placing 66th to close out her first cross country season.
