Women Win Opener, Miller Wins Men’s Individual Title at UIW Twilight

Cougars earn team victory in the women’s 4k, Zac Miller wins men’s race
SAN ANTONIO – Led by redshirt freshman Addison Hite and sophomore Cadence Patterson, the University of Houston Cross Country women's program opened the 2025 season with a team victory at the UIW Twilight on Friday night while freshman Zac Miller won the men's race.
The women's squad earned its first overall team victory since the 2021 season, winning the 4k with 27 points. On the men's side, Miller made his collegiate debut in his hometown of San Antonio with a victory in the men's 6k (17:58.4) and helped lead Houston to second place.
Hite made her cross country debut in second place (13:52.1) while Patterson posted a third-place finish (14:05.6).
Sophomore Lily Campos crossed the finish line with a personal best time for fifth place (14:08.8) and freshman Olivia Brillhart immediately followed in sixth place (14:08.8). Sophomore Daniela Mendez rounded out the scoring for the Cougars with a personal best to take 11th place (14:21.5).
On the men's side, junior Patrick Flowers was the second Cougar to cross the finish line with a personal best for fifth place (18.15.1) and sophomore Caden Thurman took eighth place (18:36.2). Junior Aaron Crittenden earned 11th place (18:47.7) and sophomore Zade Kayyali followed closely with a personal best to place 12th overall (18:48.3).
