PREVIEW: Cross Country Squads Set for Texas A&M Invitational

Men scheduled to run 8k at 7:40 a.m., followed by women’s 5k at 8:15 a.m.
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The University of Houston Cross Country team will travel to College Station for its second meet of the season on Friday at the Watts Cross Country Course.
The men will kick off the race at 7:40 a.m. with an 8k run, and the women will follow at 8:15 a.m. with the 5k. Live results can be found here.
The Cougars are set to compete against Texas A&M (host), as well as other competitors such as Baylor, Blinn College, Lamar, Louisiana, Our Lady of the Lake, Prairie View A&M, Sam Houston, SMU (W), St. Edward's, Stephen F. Austin, TCU, Texas, Texas Southern, UT-Dallas, and UT-Tyler.
LAST TIME OUT
The University of Houston men's and women's cross-country teams opened the 2026 season with runner-up finishes at the Aggie Opener last Friday at the Watts Cross Country Course.
The women's squad placed second with 42 points in the 2-mile race and the men finished second with 38 points in the 5k.
Senior Henok Hagos led the men with a second-place individual finish in 15:21.1. Senior Jack Boyd finished fourth overall in 15:20.4, followed by senior David Soto in sixth at 15:26.5. Junior Caden Thurman placed ninth with a time of 15:35.3, while junior Remay Abraha completed the team's top five in 17th place, crossing the finish line in 16:03.8.
Junior Cadence Patterson paced the women with a fifth-place individual finish in 10:51.8. Junior Addison Hite followed in sixth place in 10:57.4, junior Lily Campos finished in 11:11.3 for 8th place, junior AnnClaire Cop recorded a 10th-place finish in 11:15.7, and junior Julia Shimel rounded out the team's top five in 13th place with a time of 11:18.7.
