Cougars travel to Arizona for second time since 2022, face Sun Devils in first matchup since 2010
PHOENIX – Following the cancellation of Houston Baseball's final nonconference game, the Cougars open the final stretch of six regular season Big 12 Conference games beginning with a three-game set at Arizona State Friday-Sunday, marking the first meeting since 2010.

THE MATCHUP
- This is the first meeting since 2010 with Arizona State sweeping the series in Tempe at Packard Stadium.
- Houston is seeking its first win over Arizona State since winning two consecutive against the Sun Devils in the 2002 Mesa Regional.
- The first-ever meeting came at the 1967 College World Series with Houston winning the first game and Arizona State winning the second.
- Arizona State has never played at Houston but the two met at Minute Maid Park (now Daikin Park) in 2007.
QUICK HITTERS
- Houston owns the longest active winning streak in the Big 12 at 5 wins and the seventh-longest active streak in the country.
- Schroeder Park welcomed 1,000,000 fans through the gate this season.
- Houston swept its first Big 12 Conference series of the season and won its first home series since March 9 with a sweep of Utah. The Cougars last swept a Big 12 opponent in 2024, opening Big 12 play with a sweep of Baylor.
- The Cougars have won four-straight Big 12 games, the longest streak in the two years since joining the league. Houston's 10 Big 12 wins is a three-game improvement from 2024.

Jean is one of two pitchers nationally in the top 10 in both K/9 and H/9.
- Houston's 13 road wins is fourth-most in the Big 12. The Cougars have improved their road win total from 2024 by 160% with three road games remaining.
- Jean's 58.5% whiff rate on his curveball leads all D-1 pitchers who have thrown at least 150 curveballs. His 39.3% whiff rate is eighth-best nationally among pitchers with at least 500 pitches thrown.
- Jean leads the team with 2.03 WAR through 44 games this season while Broussard's 1.83 WAR is best among Houston position players. Jean's 2.03 pWAR is 17th nationally and third in the Big 12 Conference.
- Junior Chris Scinta is tied with Jean for the team lead in wins (4) and leads the team in appearances (17).Â
- Broussard's wheels are turning, successfully stealing 21 bases in a row this season before being caught against Rice on April 8. The Houston native is tied for second all-time in school history for consecutive stolen bases. Broussard's 29 stolen bases ranks eighth in program history. Broussard is chasing the school record of 36 stolen bases in a single season set by Trey Williams in 1969. Â
- Houston scored 10+ runs in five consecutive games scoring 10+ for the first time since 1999 scoring 10+ in games at Rice (3/5), vs Grambling (3/7-9) and at Sam Houston (3/12).
- 12 teams make the Big 12 Conference Championships in Arlington, Texas. With Houston in 10th place but just mere percentage points away from eighth place.
LAST TIME OUT
- Houston swept its first Big 12 Conference series of the season and won its first home Big 12 series of the year with a 10-4 win over Utah on Sunday.
- The Cougars won the series opener on a walk-off double from Xavier Perez after Houston scored three ninth inning runs to win 5-4.
