Moore Records Hat Trick, Houston Wins Third Straight

Senior midfielder Juliet Moore records first Houston hat trick since 2016
SAN MARCOS, Texas – Senior midfielder Juliet Moore recorded a hat trick as the University of Houston soccer team defeated Texas State, 3-2 at the Bobcat Soccer Complex on Sunday evening.
It is the first hat trick of Moore's career and first for the Cougars since Sept. 23, 2016, when Desiree Bowen netted three goals against New Mexico State.
Houston (3-2-1) got out to the early lead when sophomore midfielder Aryanna Jimison found Moore in transition at the 14-minute mark.
The Cougars doubled their lead in the 20th minute as senior defender Anna Reysa connected with Moore on the cross, taking a 2-0 lead into halftime.
Texas State (2-3) answered back with two quick goals in the second half. Kaylie Smith found Victoria Meza in the 51st minute and Mady Soumare found the back of the net in the 53rd minute to tie the match.
The Scarlet & White responded as freshman defender Kayla Smith picked up her first career assist and found Moore who redirected the ball past the goalkeeper in the 60th minute for the hat trick.
