ATHENS, Ga. – The University of Houston women's basketball team heads on its first road trip of the 2024-25 campaign as it takes on Georgia at 5 p.m., CT inside Stegeman Coliseum.
Friday marks the fifth meeting between Houston and Georgia and the third in Athens, Ga.

THE GAME
- Houston and Georgia meet for the fifth time in program history and third time in Athens, Ga., on Friday.
- The Bulldogs lead the all-time series, 4-1.
- This marks the 12th all-time meeting between Head Coaches Ronald Hughey and Katie Abrahamson-Henderson.
- Abrahamson-Henderson holds an 11-0 advantage over Houston during her time as UCF's head coach (2016-22).
- Georgia won the last meeting against Houston, 65-52, in Athens (Dec. 3, 2003).
- Houston's lone victory against Georgia resulted in an 81-78 victory inside Hofheinz Pavilion (Dec. 20, 2002).
- Redshirt Sophomore guard Gigi Cooke scored a career high 18 points in Houston's 70-68 loss to UTRGV inside Fertitta Center on Tuesday evening.
- Sophomore guard Kierra Merchant also recorded 18 points, one off her career high. Redshirt senior guard Leilani Augmon was the third Cougar in double-figures with 13 points and eight rebounds.
- Graduate guard Ashley Chevalier posted six assists to tie her career high.
- After already being decimated with injuries, redshirt senior Avalon Miller left the game with a left ankle injury with 1:05 remaining in the second quarter.
- Houston returns All-Big 12 Conference Honorable Mention selection Laila Blair for the 2024-25 season.
- The Cougars return five players from the 2023-24 roster: Kierra Merchant, Gigi Cooke, Laila Blair, Avalon Miller and Peyton McFarland.
- Houston welcomes transfers Leilani Augmon (Troy), Summer Bostock (Maryland), Ashley Chevalier (Texas Tech) and Eylia Love (Louisville) to the squad this season.
- Senior guards Maliyah Johnson and Kateri Poole will miss the season after suffering knee injuries two weeks apart.
- Assistant Coach Chynna Grimes will miss the first two months of the season after the arrival of her daughter, Capri, on Nov. 4.
